Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Petska (“Petska,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Petska applications, websites, and related services (the “Service”). We aim to collect only what we need to run the Service for you.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you register, we collect your email address and, for authentication, your credentials are managed by our identity provider (Amazon Cognito). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile details they share, such as your name and email. Apple may provide a private relay email if you choose to hide your address.
- Waitlist information. If you join our waitlist on petska.app before launch, we collect the email address you submit and a note of which part of the page you submitted it from. We use it only to email you about Petska becoming available. You can ask us to delete it at any time at support@petska.app, and we will.
- Business and client data you enter. As a sitter, you may add information about your clients and their pets — names, contact details, care notes, schedules, and visit records. You are responsible for having permission to provide this information.
- Content. Photos, notes, and report cards you create or upload through the Service.
- Usage and device data. We automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and log data — including a record of sign-in events used to secure your account and investigate abuse.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
- authenticate you, keep your account secure, and detect and prevent fraud or abuse;
- generate visit report cards from the photos and notes you provide;
- communicate with you about your account, including verification and security messages;
- email you once when Petska launches, if you joined the waitlist;
- comply with legal obligations.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. We use trusted vendors to run the Service — for example, Amazon Web Services for hosting, database, and authentication (Amazon Cognito), and email delivery providers. They process information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Sign-in providers. If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, your interaction with them is governed by their own privacy policies.
- Between sitters and their clients. Content you send through the Service — such as report cards — is shared with the recipients you direct it to.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Petska, our users, or the public.
Automated and AI processing
To create report cards, the photos and notes you submit may be processed by automated systems, including AI models operated by us or our service providers, solely to generate content for you. We do not use Your Content to train third-party models except as needed to provide this feature, and we do not sell it.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from the app’s account settings; doing so removes your identity record from our authentication system and deletes your associated account data, subject to limited records we may retain for security, legal, or accounting purposes (for example, a minimal log of past sign-in events).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app — for example, updating your email, changing your password, or deleting your account — or by contacting us at support@petska.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest and a managed authentication system. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Service is not directed to children and is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
We operate in the United States, and information we collect may be processed and stored there or in other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to locations that may have different data-protection rules than your own.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, if appropriate, notify you within the Service.
